Business Central V25 & LS Retail EFT Setup: Key Fixes & Insights

Recently, one of our customers upgraded their Business Central environment to Version 25. While the upgrade process itself was smooth, they encountered a critical issue when using POS with EFT integration—the POS was not sending data to the EFT Verifone device, causing disruptions in payment processing. This unexpected issue required immediate attention and troubleshooting.

Issue Identification

Shortly after the upgrade, the customer noticed that EFT transactions were failing. They reached out to our support team for urgent assistance. Our initial debugging efforts did not yield a clear solution, prompting us to escalate the issue to the LS Retail team. We collaborated with their team to analyze the problem further.

Root Cause & Solution

Through extensive debugging, the LS Retail team identified an issue in the EFT setup. They pointed out that after upgrading to Business Central Version 25, a known issue had been reported regarding the Client Transaction ID Type configuration. Specifically:

· Previous Setting: A 10-digit number was used for the Client Transaction ID.

· New Required Setting: The ID should be updated to Receipt Number + Card Number.

Once we applied this change to the EFT setup, the issue was resolved, and the Verifone device started processing transactions successfully.

Additionally, an LS Retail representative commented:

If the setting is set to the 10-digit option – which is the default – it only allows digits or numbers in the terminal number. In version 25, we refactored this functionality to make it easier for our partners to customize this transaction ID functionality, and in doing so, we removed a default fallback functionality between the 10-digit option and “ReceiptNo+CardEntryNo.”

Next Steps & Key Takeaways

  • The LS Retail team has acknowledged this issue and will report it internally for further review.

  • If you are upgrading to Business Central Version 25 and using EFT with LS Retail, ensure that the Client Transaction ID Type is correctly configured to prevent similar disruptions.

  • Always perform post-upgrade validations on EFT setups to guarantee a smooth transition and avoid unexpected downtime.

System upgrades can bring powerful enhancements, but they may also introduce unexpected configuration changes. This case highlights the importance of thorough testing and collaboration with solution providers to quickly resolve post-upgrade challenges.
